The Freedom Heroes Project began in Rochester, New York, at a Literacy Summit in November, 2006. The goal was to create a book that could be distributed to Rochester area’s third-grade students. When Nancy Fabry, a reading specialist, suggested involving students in the creation of the book, the project became known as the Rochester Freedom Heroes Book Contest. The Susan B. Anthony House was proud to be a part of this wonderful project.
